So my daughter lives in a studio apartment in Tokyo which is a fucking mess. OMG! We FaceTime and I see her floor and piles of laundry and garbage and stuff and I freak out a little and she laughs at me and then I remember my apartment at that age was similar. I was messy as heck.
Nowadays I can't leave my bed unmade without feeling like I've failed at life. Which got me to thinking about what I used to love then versus now and how much it's all changed.
1. Hot baths. Used to take baths a few times a week. Nowadays I do it rarely. It's just not as comforting somehow. Although sometimes (on a cold night), it's still a delight.
2. Masturbation. Used to do it nightly. Now I do it rarely and usually give up shortly after I start because it's too much work. Sleep is so much better than orgasms.
3. Movies. Used to love them. Now I don't often have the ability to give anything my attention that long. I usually watch a sitcom and doze during it.
4. Chocolate. I'd rather have ice cream if I want something sweet. And I used to be such a chocoholic.
5. Fast food. Never hot enough and gives me a stomach ache.
6. Men. Used to like them. Now I don't.
7. Binge reading. Now this I miss. I used to read all the time. Now I don't and I miss it. And nowadays it's easy to put a book down and I used to never be able to do that.
What about you? Anybody have anything to add to the list?
Hmm, in response to yours...
ReplyDelete1. USed to have them as a kid, as an adult not so much. We also no longer have a bath in our bathroom, and the recess at the bottom of hte shower isn't deep or long enough to do laps. Can't say I miss it, to be honest.
2. LOL - Agree with this. I'd rather watch a commercial for weed killer. Unless I've just watched Henry Cavill in something and then sometimes... maybe... ;)
3. Movies - still watch but tend to watch series now. Hanging out for s3 of the Boys and of course Enola Holmes 2. Also just binged the first two seasons of 'never have I ever'. Loved it. If I do watch a movie it tends to be one of those cheesy soppy and predictable rom-coms that make you roll your eyes and wish you could get the 90 minutes back. It would be nice to see a decent one for a change.
4. Not an ice-cream fan although if I had to pick, soft serve, maybe? Don't mind chocolate but thanks to your good self Lori, I now prefer cheese popcorn. Yum!
5. Fast food has it's time and place but not as big a fan as I was. Don't mind a Subway on occasion these days but have all but given up on the brekky wraps from Hungry Jacks (our Burger King.)
6. Men. No comment.
7. I too haven't binge read in years but I am back to reading more than I did last year. Only managed the one book and even that was a hard sell. I'm on to my fourth or fifth for this year, so fingers crossed.
To add to your list...
8. Writing. Still love it and do it daily (even have spreadsheet to track progress). Still doing some fanfic but have started again with the pictures/words small pieces. I no longer have an audience but that's ok because I've always written for me. I'm thinking of Camp Nano'ing next month but we'll see. Need an idea...
9. IL Divo - Still love their music (Well, the first four albums and hte odd song since then) but don't listen to them as actively as I used to. It's still a struggle to let a song play through these days, since Carlos passed and I can't bring myself to watch the little shorts that David put together and shared. THey will always be a part of my life though as through them, I met some wonderful women and I'll always be grateful for that.
10. Cross stitch - Loved it once upon a time haven't done anything in over ten years. Every now and then get a hankering, just not enough to get the material and a pattern out. Oh well...
I'm sure there are more but that's it for me. Big hugs to you Ms Lori and Miss Mollie too, who is just like me - messy and happy ;) MWAH!
My response is gone... was it that bad? LOL
ReplyDeleteNever saw it...
ReplyDeleteWeird. I actually got a copy so not sure... anyway, here it is :D

Oh I agree with so much of this.
ReplyDeleteI've been buying songs on ITunes recently but old songs from the 60s. The soundtrack in my head is old so the songs on my phone are going to match it.
I'll check out Never Have I Ever. If you like it and we have similar tastes sometimes... let me see.
My iTunes is full of 50's-80's stuff so if you need anything, let me know :) The best kind of music. And I hope you like the show. Just heard there is a new season coming and then a a fourth and final one. Only 10 eps long each but that's ok. Let me know :) xxx
DeleteOMG Lea. Do you have Carlos singing Es El Momento? If you do can you send it?
ReplyDeleteI do! It's the one song where I feel he doesn't overdo it, if you know what I mean. I love it. Will send ASAP!! ♥
